Z-FORCE 14.4 BATTERY PACK
The Z-FORCE 14.4 kWh lithium-ion battery requires no maintenance or upkeep and makes the DS capable of 232 km of city range. Riders can extend their range even farther with the available Power Tank accessory (dealer install required). The battery's industry-leading power and energy density combined with an aluminum heat-sink housing and thermal transfer interface ensure consistent cell cooling and maximum long-term powertrain performance.
Rapid charge system
Our Rapid Charge System is customizable for various charging levels but the baseline for the Zero DS is a powerful 3.0 kW charger. To get even faster charging you can elect to have your dealer install the available Rapid Charging Module accessory and boost your onboard charging power. Or alternatively, you can use the included EVSE cord to charge the Zero DS from any standard wall outlet for an overnight charge.
Z-FORCE 75-7 MOTOR
The Z-Force 75-7 motor delivers 132 N-m of torque and 45 kW, effortlessly propelling the DS to a top speed of 139 km/h. Pairing Zero's renowned internal permanent magnet brushless architecture and a passively air-cooled compact design creates class-leading performance and efficiency.
Chassis
While it may appear that the Zero DS shares the same steel-trellis frame as Zero's street motorcycles, the similarities end there. Updated to maximize its strength while shedding as much weight as possible, the frame is reinforced for the rigors of any terrain that is thrown at it. The powertrain is perfectly distributed, resulting in a weight-optimized/mass-centralized design. The Zero DS componentry is also situated differently to optimize for adventure by providing a category-leading 24.6 cm of ground clearance. Paired with a coaxial power-pivot swingarm which has also been reinforced to handle greater loads under harsher conditions, the architecture of the bike and Showa's adventure suspension delivers a nimble and controlled riding experience.
Linked braking
The DS features a linked braking system. Controlled by the integrated Bosch Motorcycle Stability Control System, it activates instantly upon sensing a loss of traction or any slippage. The system immediately applies the right amount of braking to the front and rear brakes simultaneously, providing added control when climbing or descending steep, loose terrain. The Zero DS is equipped with J. Juan radial 4-piston calipers with radial master cylinders to clench down on dual 320x5 mm disc brakes up front and another J. Juan pair of 2x25 mm pistons biting down on a 265x4.5 mm disc in the rear.
See clearly
Customize your dash or simply let the industry's gold standard in auto-contrasting light sensing do all the work for you. Data fields abound when you choose the bike info you want to be displayed and read it clearly on the optically bonded, full-color 12.7 cm TFT display. Multi-mode navigation enables on-the-fly ride mode switching, cruise-control, heated grip control, and much more.
Dialed suspension
The DS delivers a smooth ride fit for any terrain or load with enhanced suspension for your ADV outings. A 47-mm Showa fork offers 18.7 cm of travel and full adjustability. Also, the convenient dial for hand-adjusting preload on the new Showa shock also offers the perfect accommodation for a pillion rider or fully-loaded optional TRAX ADV cases (sold separately).
Rubber side down
The DS can navigate virtually any obstacle in its way thanks to its incredibly light and durable cast wheels, 19” up front and 17” in the rear. These come wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion Trail II tires for uniformly excellent performance on all surface types. However, the indomitable Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tires are available for those riders who want to upgrade their DS into a fully trail-rated off-road monster.
Carbon strong
Zero collaborated with Gates Carbon Belt Drive, the leader in belt-driven powersport technologies, to develop an entirely new belt drive system for the DS. Wider, stronger, and more capable than ever, the Gates Carbon Drive Moto X9™ belt is paired to the Mudport Wheel Sprocket with larger, ported sprockets to reduce bend angles and eliminate debris from the drive train. This combination results in the most durable drive system that is found on any electric motorcycle. *Chain Kit option available as accessory purchase
Light the way
See the road ahead like never before and ensure it always sees you with the custom-made full LED headlight and LED taillight with opalescent light-pipe for unrivaled lateral visibility. The 2024 DS can be upgraded with optional LED turn and hazard indicators so you can be confident your intentions are broadcast as far as possible in any low light situations.
ROOM TO SPARE
The DS comes stock with 28L of onboard storage volume in various storage compartments. From the covert stash spots on the motorcycle to the voluminous tank assembly storage sometimes referred to as a “frunk,” the DS is delivered with thoughtful storage options that complement your favorite ADV riding gear. Also, the DS can be equipped with dozens of bespoke storage cases from some of the most trusted names in Adventure Riding.
